Based on the latest NDRRMC report, the numbers of flooded areas has reached to a total of 663 in 92 municipalities and cities under Regions 1, 3, 4A, 4B and NCR. The cost of damage in Regions 1, 4A, 4B and CAR in relation to agriculture and infrastructures is estimated at Php 74,809,751.05 and Php 22,487, 725.46 respectively.
Last August 17, the reported Low Pressure Area hovering upon the islands of Luzon developed into a Tropical Depression named “Maring” which became a tropical storm the day after. For two consecutive days, August 19 and August 20, Tropical Storm Maring brought heavy to torrential rain falls leaving extensive flooding in the areas of Luzon.
NDRRMC said “Maring” left the Philippines’ area of responsibility in the morning of August 23.
