Palawan Voted As 'World’s Best Island 2013'

Palawan is the best island in the world, according to the readers of the New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine.

In a recent survey conducted by the magazine, the island province in Southern Luzon scored 95.04 to take the top spot in Travel + Leisure's annual "World's Best Island" list.

Another popular tourist destination in the Philippines which occupied the number 1 spot last year, the Boracay Island, ranked second in the list with a score of 93.58.

Palawan and Boracay beat out other famous islands in the world including Maui, Hawaii (#3); Santorini, Greece (#4); Prince Edward Island, Canada (#5); Bali, Indonesia (#6); Kauai, Hawaii (#7); Sicily, Italy (#8); Koh Samui, Thailand (#9) and the Galapagos (#10).

The "Top 10 World's Best Islands 2013" were determined through the data collected from the questionnaires made available to magazine's readers last December 1, 2012 until April 1, 2013. The criteria used in the survey included natural attractions, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people, and value.
