A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Luzon, Philippines on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Phivolcs, the quake struck at 1:38 p.m and centered at 76km northeast of Jomalig, Quezon. It has a depth of 95km and was tectonic in origin, it added.
There were no immediate reports of people being hurt or property being damaged due to the temblor. The Institute, however, said that it is expecting aftershocks from the earthquake.
The Philippine Archipelago sits on the "Ring of Fire," a zone of tectonic activity around the Pacific Ocean that is subject to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
