Baguio City Earthquake February 4, 2013 |
The temblor, which was 12 k.m. deep and tectonic in origin, was felt at Intensity V in the city and Intensity II in Agoo, San Fernando, La Union.
An Intensity V quake is described as "strong" and is generally felt by most people indoors and outdoors. It awakens many sleeping people and causes some to be frightened and to run outdoors. Strong shaking and rocking are felt throughout buildings, with hanging objects swinging violently; dining utensils clattering and clinking or even break. During the quake, small, light and unstable objects may fall or overturn; liquids spill from filled open containers; standing vehicles rock noticeably; and shaking of leaves and twigs of trees are noticeable.
Meanwhile, Intensity II is felt by few individuals at rest indoors, with hanging objects swing slightly and still water in containers oscillates noticeably.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the February 4 Baguio City earthquake.
The government agency also said it is not expecting aftershocks.
