"Insidious" sequel, which opened on 'Friday the 13th,' scared up a whooping $41 million this weekend in North America, topping box office charts.

Titled "Insidious Chapter 2," the haunted-house horror sequel more than tripled the opening take of the original "Insidious" movie in 2010. The said figure ranks "Insidious 2" second in the list of highest September openings of all time, next to last year's "Hotel Transylvania," which raked in $42.5 million.

During its day of release, "Insidious Chapter 2" reportedly earned $20 million, which is the highest September opening day in history. The movie's excellent release date, as well as the strong reputation of its predecessor, are being credited for its success.

The James Wan-helmed film follows the story of the haunted Lambert family who seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. It stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Barbara Hershey, among others.

Miss Uzbekistan Mystery: Ms. World 2013 Contestant A Fraud?

Miss Uzbekistan mystery is baffling the pageant world right now.

Uzbekistan is being represented for the very first time in the prestigious Miss World beauty pageant by an 18-year-old lady named Rakhima Ganieva.

Ganieva, who hails from the Uzbek capital Tashkent, arrived in Bali, Indonesia earlier this month and has since been participating in the pre-pageant events together with the rest of the contestants from all over the world.

However, officials at the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry and the National Committee on Women say they don't know about Ganieva’s participation in the Miss World contest, adding their nation does not have a contest to select a Miss Uzbekistan.

Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of Uzbek President Islom Karimov, reportedly commented on Twitter that the Miss Uzbekistan representative is a "Tajik-looking girl" who "appeared out of nowhere."

"Rakhima Ganieva never passed through any special selection process in Uzbekistan," Zhavlon Komolov, a representative of the Tashkent-based Pro Models modeling agency that briefly trained Ganieva when she was still 15 years old, told the Radio Free Europe.

He added, "If there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen. I'm sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies."

NoypiStuff was able to contact Sayed Kemal, who defended Ganieva on Facebook, saying that Ganieva was indeed crowned Miss Uzbekistan 2013 earlier this year. Kemal, who claims to know the pageant's national director, said the event was held privately last July 20 without the knowledge of the ministry and the committee.

Kemal's statement is supported by the popular pageant website Missology.org.

"Miss Uzbekistan 2013 event organized by Interalliance UZ concluded last @0th of July in Tashkent and Rahima Ganieva won the coveted title, " Missology wrote. "Rahima topped the said competition after taking her best shot during the three levels- national costumes, catwalk in cocktail dresses and interview in evening dresses."

Organizers of Miss World have not released a statement regarding the said Miss Uzbekistan mystery, as of this posting.

The grand coronation night of this year's edition of Miss World will be held in Bali on September 28.

A rare $4 gold coin could sell for up to $1.5 million at a Bonhams auction in Los Angeles later this month.

The 1880 $4 Coiled Hair Stella is among the 27 coins in Tacasyl Collection of Magnificent United States Proof Gold Coins that will be offered on September 23 as part of Bonhams' Coins and Medals auction. With six grams of pure gold in it, the said $4 gold coin is valued the highest out of the lot.

Bonhams said that the coin is "exceptionally rare." Although the precise mintage records are thus far lost, the consensus of researchers is that no more than ten to fifteen $4 Coiled Hair Stella coins were produced, with nearly ten surviving examples, it added.

"The $4 Stella Coiled Hair cameo coin is almost like the 'great white whale' for coin collectors, in that it has eluded so many of the best. Without a doubt, offering this coin and indeed the entire Tacasyl collection is the highlight of my career," said Paul Song, Director of the Rare Coins and Medals Department at Bonhams.

Stella coins were briefly produced between 1879-1880, in an ill-fated attempt to join the Latin Monetary Union (LMU), spearheaded by John A. Kasson, a former chairman of the United States House Committee on Coinage, Weights, and Measures. The coins were meant to contain an equivalent amount of precious metal as the 20-franc Napoleon coin used throughout Europe. Congress eventually rejected Kasson's plan, but several hundred Stellas had already been minted. Rumor has it the coins caused quite a scandal when they began appearing in the jewelry of some of Washington's most notorious madams.

World's Shortest Woman In New York For Guinness World Records 2014 Book Launch

World's shortest woman Jyoti Amge is currently in New York City for the launch of the latest edition of the Guinness World Records book.

On Thursday,  the 19-year-old lady from Nagpur, India visited the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building, which is 600 times her height. Her trip to the Big Apple also included a visit to Times Square and the Statue of Liberty.

Standing only 2 feet and 0.6 inches in height and weighing 12 pounds, Amge has a medical condition called achondroplasia, a common cause of dwarfism. She reportedly has brittle bones and is likely to need care for the rest of her life.

Despite her tiny stature, Amge is not the shortest woman in history. This title continues to be held by Pauline Musters of the Netherlands (1876-1895) who measured just 24 inches.

The Filipino boys were flown by comedienne-host Ellen DeGeneres to the United States recently, about four months after the latter discovered the video of the duo on Youtube performing the Luther Vandross hit “Dance With My Father.”

During Thursday’s episode, DeGeneres interviewed the two cousins, who are B’laan natives from General Santos City. She asked them about how their life changed after their YouTube video became an online hit.

"People started recognizing us along the streets on in the malls. They even recognize us in the restrooms. That's weird," Talonding said.

Bucong added, "Many people do recognize me, especially girls. So it feels awkward when they say that they love me!"

Talonding, 14, and Bucong, 20, then performed live the song that made them famous in the internet, receiving a standing ovation from the audience.

After their performance, DeGeneres gave Talonding a set of musical instruments and $10,000.

The GenSan boys now join the growing list of Filipino talents that have appeared on the popular talk show, who include Charice Pempengco, Zendee Rose Tenerefe, Arnel Pineda, Rhap Zalazar and Fil-Canadian Maria Aragon.

Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake Hits Butuan City

An earthquake with a Richter Scale reading of magnitude 4.9 jolted Butuan City in Northern Mindanao, Philippines on Thursday, September 12, 2013, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the quake struck at 8:32pm and centered at 11km northeast of Butuan City. The temblor, which was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 18km, was felt in the following areas:

Intensity IV - Butuan City
Intensity III - Camiguin Island
Intensity II - Surigao City; Carrascal, Surigao Del Sur

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the recent Butuan quake.

The Institute also said it is not expecting major damage or aftershocks.

The Philippines is part of the Ring of Fire, an area in the Pacific where continental plates collide, causing frequent quakes.

The young girl, identified only by the name Rawan, is believed to have suffered a tear to her genitals and severe bleeding after sleeping with her middle-aged husband. The incident took place in the city of Hardh in the Governorate of Hajjah in northwestern Yemen.

According to the Gulf News, local security officials and journalists in the area denied the reports regarding the death of the 8-year-old bride but Mohammad Radman, a freelance journalist from the province who first reported the story, argued that he has sources and that the local officials are "trying to bury the story."

The Reuters, which also ran the story, was able to interview Arwa Othman, head of Yemen House of Folklore and a leading rights campaigner, who confirmed Rawan's death.

The practice of marrying young girls is widespread in Yemen. Poor families are forced to marry off young daughters to save on the costs of bringing up a child and earn extra money from the dowry given to the girl. The belief that a young bride can be shaped into an obedient wife, bear more children and be kept away from temptation also plays a role.

Based on government and UN data, nearly 14 percent of Yemeni girls were married before the age of 15 and 52 percent before the age of 18.

Living up to his name as “Sample King” in the noontime that he cohosts, 37-year-old actor-dancer made a never-before-seen stunt in his free throw. 'On The Job' Fails To Sizzle At Box Office

Despite the positive reviews it has received, Erik Matti's "On The Job" seems to perform weakly at the box office.

According to data from Box Office Mojo, the crime thriller only earned P2.7 million from September 4-8 and now has a total gross of P11.7 million. The movie was released on August 28. 

"On The Job" is currently at number 57 in the list of highest-grossing films in the Philippines this year, more than a dozen places behind GMA Films' "My Lady Boss," which was considered by some as "flop."

A co-production of Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment, "On The Job" is based on an actual corruption scandal in which prisoners were released on day passes to work as hitmen. It can be recalled that TV host-comedienne Ellen DeGeneres made an announcement on her show in April that she was looking for the duo after discovering their viral video on Youtube performing the Luther Vandross' hit "Dance With My Father." She was able to find them and invited them to guest her show.

Talonding and Bucong, who are staying at a Sheraton hotel in LA, are set to meet DeGeneres and will be performing on her popular talk show on Wednesday. The episode will be shown on Thursday (early Friday morning, Manila Time).

Blake Performs 'Manila' At London Barrio Fiesta 2013

British classical vocal group Blake performed a Tagalog song before a crowd of 65,000 Filipinos during the recently concluded London Barrio Fiesta 2013.

In their official website, the British band noted that they missed the Philippines and thus they chose the Hotdogs hit “Manila” during the performance, which has the perfect lyrics for what they are feeling. They admitted that they were challenged by the language but it was worth the hard work since the video of their performance went viral online and within 5 hours after it was uploaded, it had garnered numerous shares in Facebook and elicited positive responses and more support to the band.

The band members said they are looking forward to visit the Philippines again soon to woo their fans with their rich vocals.

Composed of Ollie Baines, Humphrey Berney, Stephen Bowman and Jules Knight, Blake is known to be formed via Facebook. The group launched their first album in 2007 and topped the UK Classical Album Chart and embraced in the Top 20 of the Pop Chart.

Zamboanga Hostages: Over 160 Residents Used As 'Human Shield' By MNLF

At least 160 people are being held hostage by armed men believed to be rogue elements of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Zamboanga City.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas on Tuesday stressed that the primary mission of the government is to secure the safe release of hostages who are being used as “human shield”.

Roxas, in a statement, said that initial efforts by the government have so far resulted in the release on Tuesday of five hostages, including four children. He added the government forces have already contained the MNLF forces in five areas in Zamboanga.

The DILG chief disclosed that the local crisis management committee has received feelers from several individuals offering help in negotiating for the release of the hostages. He maintained that the government would demand the unconditional release of all hostages in case the leaders of the armed group pushes agree to talk with the local crisis management committee.

At present, Roxas said government officials are working with local executives and community leaders to ensure the evacuation to safer grounds of city residents who are caught in the crossfire between security forces and MNLF rebels.

City officials, he said, are in close coordination with field personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) to make sure that the evacuated residents are protected and well taken care of.

Roxas and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin are still in Zamboanga City to monitor the city government’s response to the ongoing crisis. Roxas explained that government forces are now focusing on “saving as many lives as possible” after they successfully thwarted the attempt of MNLF rebels to take over vital installations in Zamboanga City.

Roxas noted that the military and police are working hand-in-hand to flush out the remaining armed groups who are still sowing terror in four of the 98 barangays in Zamboanga City. He added the government would also see to it that all those responsible for the foiled siege on Zamboanga would be meted punishment in accordance with the law.

The Porsche 918 Spyder completed the 12.8-mile lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in six minutes and 57 seconds, shaving 14 seconds off the previous record for a street-legal automobile, and 17 seconds from its run last September.

"We promised a great deal with the 918 Spyder, namely to redefine performance, efficiency and driving pleasure. We have kept our word," said Wolfgang Hatz, member of the Porsche AG Board of Management in charge of Research and Development.

As befits Porsche, the 918 Spyder is also paving the way for future generations of super sports cars. It is currently making its global debut at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. With its unique spread, the model blends maximum driving dynamics with minimal fuel consumption. By setting a new Nurburgring record, the 918 sports car is demonstrating both the enormous potential that lies in Porsche's pioneering plug-in hybrid concept and the leading role the company enjoys when it comes to developing sporty hybrid vehicles.

"The radical hybridization of the 918 Spyder from the very outset is what made this record possible," said Dr. Frank Walliser, head of the 918 Spyder project. "The Nordschleife is and remains the toughest measure of a super sports car. Philippines Wins Fireworks Competition In Germany

The Philippine flag was raised again with pride as the team representing the country reaped major awards in the 8th Pyronale Fireworks World Championship in Berlin, Germany.

Of 70 companies from all over the world that joined the prestigious fireworks competition, Dragon Fireworks, the Philippines’ largest fireworks manufacturing company, was among the six chosen to showcase a firework display in front of 65,000 spectators last September 6 and 7. During the first day, teams from Croatia, Finland and Poland exhibited their plays, while teams Greece, Spain and Philippines featured theirs in the next day.

The contest was divided into 3 categories. The first category consisted of a 1-minute firework display without music and the second category involved background music, "An Der Blauen Donau" by Johann Strauss and "Can Can" by Jacques Offenbach. The last category entailed a 10-minute pyrotechnics and background music of their choice with the theme “My Country”.  Dragon Fireworks opted for "Piliin mo ang Pilipinas," "Tanging Yaman" and David Garret’s songs.

The Philippine team eventually bagged the People’s Choice Award, Winner of the Day and the Overall Champion Award. Spain’s Pirotecnia Zaragozana took the second place, while JoHo Pyro of Finland went home third.

Poul Nielsen has the best goalscoring record in history, netting 52 goals in 38 games.

Susan Fuentes Dies At 58

Susan Fuentes has lost her battle to colon cancer at the age of 58.

The veteran singer died at 12:30 p.m. at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute in Quezon City on Saturday,

Fuentes was the voice behind the Visayan hit songs "Matud Nila", "Gimingaw Ako", "Usahay" and "Rosas Pandan," which earned her the title as the "Queen of Visayan Songs." She also had Tagalog singles, of which the most popular was "Miss Kita Kung Christmas," which was revived by Sharon Cuneta.

Fuentes is survived by her two children, aged 32 and 33, who the singer revealed had been estranged from her for more than a decade.

The said products, which are sold in grocery stores across the United States, are being recalled as a precaution because the dough may contain fragments from a broken piece of plastic on the production line.

Only specific 8-count single and double packages with certain date codes of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing are being recalled. They are as follows:

Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing   (Better if Used date on package:  30OCT2013 and 31OCT2013)
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing 2-pack (Better if Used date on package: 18OCT2013, 26OCT2013 and 31OCT2013)

Filipina Mutya Johanna Datul emerged as winner of the 2013 Miss Supranational beauty pageant held in Minsk, Belarus on Friday night, September 6.

The 21-year-old information technology student from Isabela bested 82 other lovely candidates from around the globe to take home the coveted crown. She also received the Miss Personality award.

Datul is the first Philippine representative and the first Asian to win the competition, which was first held in 2009 and has no question and answer portion.

Miss Mexico Jaqueline Morales is this year's first runner-up, while Turkish beauty Leyla Kose is second runner-up.

Magnitude 6.0 Earthquake Jolts Batanes, Philippines

An earthquake with a magnitude reading of 6.0 struck off Batanes in northern Philippines on Friday evening, September 6, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

According to Phivolcs, the temblor hit at 7:33pm and centered at 42km of southeast of Uyugan, Batanes. The quake, which was tectonic in origin and 183km-deep, was felt at the following intensities:

Intensity IV - Uyugan, Batanes
Intensity III - Laoag City; Ivana and Sabtang, Batanes
Intensity II - Burgos, Ilocos Sur; Basco and Mahatao, Batanes
Intensity I - Itbayat, Batanes

The Institute said aftershocks are likely but no major damage is expected from the quake. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The said earthquake is the second strongest to have hit the Philippines this year, next to the 6.2-magnitude quake that jolted Sarangani in February.

The Philippine archipelago lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where continental plates collide, causing frequent quakes.

Taal Volcano Featured In Katy Perry's 'Roar' Music Video

The Philippines' Taal Volcano is apparently in the newly released music video for the latest Katy Perry hit, "Roar."

At 2:29 of the jungle-themed visual, the pop superstar emerges from the top of a tree and looks at a group of islands, which is undoubtedly the view seen in the popular Batangas tourist spot.

Released earlier today, the music video has attracted over 2.5 million views on Youtube, as of this posting.

"Roar" is the lead single of Perry's upcoming fourth studio album, "Prism." It debuted on August 10 and reached the number 1 spot in Billboard Hot 100 on September 4.

According to the award-winning singer, the song is about "standing up for yourself, who can be the biggest bully in the equation is yourself and can get in your way and it's a song about speaking up for yourself and having the strength."

Fireball Outshines Moon, Captured On NASA Video

A major fireball, which was brighter than the moon, was caught on a NASA video over southeastern portion of the United States last week.

According to NASA, the fireball was caused by an asteroid piece that entered Earth's atmosphere. It was recorded at 3:27 am ET on August 28 above the Georgia/Tennessee border, just south of Cleveland.

Measuring 2 feet in diameter and weighing over 100 pounds, the meteor was moving northeast at 56,000 miles per hour, and began to break apart north east of Ocoee, at an altitude of 33 miles, NASA said.

All six cameras of NASA recorded the fireball, which was one of the brightest observed by the network in 5 years of operations.

The agency added that the fireball was 20 times brighter than the Full Moon from Chickamauga, Georgia and that shadows were cast on the ground as far south as Cartersville.

Marc Pingris, LA Tenorio Share FIBA Journey In 'TNT'

Marc Pingris and LA Tenorio of Gilas Pilipinas will sit down with Anthony Taberna in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” this Thursday to share their journey in the recent FIBA Asia Cup 2013 and how their passion led them to clinching silver medals.

According to Gilas’ power forward Pingris, prayers guided and brought out the true warriors in them so they could win and bring glory to the country.

“When my ankle was sprained during the first half, I prayed and asked the Lord to let us win the game because I really wanted to win. I also asked Him to help me not feel the pain,” said Pingris, who suffered from an injury during the semi-finals game against South Korea.

Pingris was not disheartened even though he was spotted grabbing his thigh in pain several times during the second half. He also said that the crowd, especially his family, encouraged him to fight until the end.

“I became stronger whenever I heard them cheering for me. My little son was yelling “Shoot the ball daddy.” You could really see his full support even though he’s too young,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gilas’ point guard Tenorio explains why he and his teammates consider their game against South Korea more unforgettable than their match-up with Iran.

“Before, we would often lose to South Korea. That’s why we were so happy and that game was really memorable,” Tenorio said.

Three-pointer Tenorio admits that scoring against Iran’s biggest players during the finals was hard.

“One of my motivations was that we may be shorter, but we must not be belittled,” he said.

Both players admit that they felt extreme pressure during the FIBA Asia Cup that tested their mental toughness as athletes. The team is even more challenged as they are set to compete and represent the country in the long-awaited FIBA World Cup in Spain for the first time.

Aside from their FIBA Asia Cup experience, Pingris and Tenorio also talk about their personal lives.

Obama To Visit Philippines Before APEC Summit

United States President Barack Obama will finally be visiting the Republic of the Philippines this year.

Obama will reportedly be meeting Philippine President Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III before he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders’ summit in Indonesia in October.

“As far as I know, President Obama is looking forward to his upcoming visit,” US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Friday. “I spoke with the President and he is very much looking forward to his trip to Southeast Asia and I know that the White House is preparing for that and his meetings, there’s a lot to discuss. So again, I’ll leave that to the White House on the specifics.”

It will mark the first time that the American leader will arrive in the country. Obama did not include the Philippines during his past visits in the region, which became an issue especially that the Southeast Asian nation is a known ally of the US.

Although Obama has not set foot on Philippines, he and President Noynoy have met in at least four past occasions.

Australia-based Filipino Youtuber Cezka Mariz Lapurga has been discovered by renowned American record producer Andrew Lane through one of her videos on the popular video sharing site.

Lane, who has worked with popular music icons such as the Backstreet boys and co-produced movies like “Hannah Montana,” “High school Musical” and “Disney Mania,” has invited the songstress to team up with him for a music album. 

In an interview with Australia’s Courier Mail, Lapurga revealed that she will be in Los Angeles, United States from September 2 to September 20 this year to record the said album.

“We’ll be collaborating on some of my songs which will be a great experience,” Lapurga said. “I’m not expecting too much else from the trip. If anything does happen, it will be a bonus.”

Mariz started out singing at the age of 7, performing at her school's program at Saint Joseph College, Maasin City, Southern Leyte, Philippines. When her family migrated to New Zealand in 2002, she attended the Performing Arts School of New Zealand. She also enrolled in Bright Stars Performing Arts Academy workshops when they moved to Australia, two years later.

In 2011, the 20-year-old singer was among the 15 artists selected by the Australian Institute for Performing Arts (AIPA) to record an eight-track album in Los Angeles, California.

'Run For The Pasig River 2013' Scheduled On October 6

ABS-CBN's annual fun run called "Run For The Pasig" is set to take place on October 6, 2013.

Dubbed as the “One Run, One Philippines: Isang Bayan para sa Kalikasan,” this year's edition of the advocacy run will be held simultaneously in Quezon City, Cebu City, Bacolod City, Davao City, and Los Angeles (USA) and will have different beneficiaries.

The “Run for the Pasig River” will be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City and will again raise funds for the rehabilitation of the waterways in Metro Manila that contribute to the degradation of the Pasig River.

The Cebu leg will benefit coastal conservation in Daan Paz; the Davao leg will support the ecotourism projects in Marilog Tourist Center; the Bacolod leg will help the mangrove and livelihood projects in Punta Taytay, Sum-ag River rehabilitation, and ecotourism projects in Bacolod City Water District Campuestuhan Watershed; while the Los Angeles leg will fund the Green Initiative of Bantay Kalikasan.

To date, ABS-CBN Foundation’s Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (KBPIP) has organized four successful runs for the Pasig River and had raised P25.94 million.

In 2009, the fun run funded the initial phase of Estero de Paco’s clean-up, while the historic “10.10.10 Run for the Pasig River” funded the second phase and even broke the Guinness World Record for the “most number of participants in a running event” in 2010 with 116,086 runners.

The 2011 and 2012 runs for the Pasig River are currently aiding the rehabilitation of Estero de San Miguel and four other esteros behind the Malacañang Palace in partnership with the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission.

As the “Run for the Pasig River” kicks off on its fifth year, KBPIP is again urging groups and individuals to join the advocacy for cleaner rivers and esteros in Metro Manila.

The participants may opt between 3K and 5K categories with both 6:00 AM gunstart at Philcoa then head straight along Commonwealth Avenue and will finish at the Elliptical Road.

Manny Pacquiao is rumored to be in debt and bankrupt as he has listed his Los Angeles mansion for sale.

Boxing promoter and a close friend of the pound-for-pound king, Wakee Salud, was asked regarding the issue by a local news reporter, Erwin Lirazan. According to Salud, Pacquiao has lost his money because he has been very generous. He said that the boxer could not say “no” to his kin and to those who would ask for help.

Roger “Haplas” Fernandez, Pacquiao’s top aide, argued that the two-storey house is being sold since it is being used only when Pacman visits the US which he rarely does as he is residing in his hometown in the Philippines, serving as a public official.

Pacquiao also set the record straight as he denied in a recent interview with Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News that he is losing money.

The said Mediterranean-inspired house, which was featured on “MTV Cribs” in 2010, has 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, a gourmet kitchen with a built-in coffee bar, an indoor pool, a spa, a fire and waterfall feature. The property is more than 4000 square feet.

The property, which is over 4000 square feet, was bought by Pacman in 2009 for $2.17 million. He is reportedly selling this off now at $2.4 million.

Tickets to the concert, which are now available in Ticketnet outlets, are priced as follows: P4,500 (Patron A), P4,000 (Patron B), P3,500 (Lower Box), P2,000 (Upper Box A), P1,000 (Upper Box B), and P500 (General Admission).

The Popstar Princess' singing career bloomed when she won the "Star For A Night" competition in 2003. Miss Philippines USA 2013 Contestant Joanlia Lising struggled to form a sensible response during the pageant’s Question and Answer portion, attracting quite huge media attention.

When Lising was asked which of the five senses she would prefer to have if she is only to be given one, she said, "Thank you for that wonderful question. If I have to pick out of five sense, I would pick seeing. Because seeing is the best sense that we can ever see, because seeing is believing. And believing into what you see is perfect. And, uh, out of all those senses, seeing...would...really......be wonderful, because. Thank you. That will be it."

A video of Lising answering the question has gone viral online. The said clip, posted 3 days ago by Youtuber "ViralVideos 24" has amassed over 200,000, as of this posting.

Lising is not the first one to experience such awkward moment in a beauty pageant. Earlier this year, Miss Utah Marissa Powell was also unable to give a sensible answer to the question raised at her.  She was asked regarding a survey in the US that says women are the primary earners in 40% of American families with children yet they still earn less than men. "What does this say about society?" the judge asked her.

"I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem. And I think, especially the men are ... seen as the leaders of this and so we need to see how to … create education better. So that we can solve this problem. Thank you."

Powell also received a lot of attention due to the incident that she trended on Twitter.

Many ask why beauty pageant contestants stumble in the question and answer portion amidst the preparation they have gone through. According to a Filipino pageant authority in an interview with ABS-CBN News, the reason why beauty contestants do so is “kaba” (nerves or anxiety).

A copy of the 6-minute video was uploaded to video sharing site Youtube on Monday. It was titled "Wally Bayola Of Eat Bulaga Scandal."

While the person in the clip resembles a great deal with the "Eat Bulaga" host, noone has come forward yet to confirm or deny whether Bayola is really the one shown in the video.

Just a month ago, another celebrity scandal shocked Noypi netizens when a private video of "Parokya Ni Edgar" vocalist Chito Miranda and actress Neri Naig made its way in the internet. Miranda, who said the video was stolen from them, has asked the help of the National Bureau of Investigation to determine who spread the video.

Proliferating such video is in violation of a Philippine law. If proven guilty, one will be imprisoned for up to seven years and will be fined up to P500,000 depending on the gravity of the offense, which is at the discretion of the court.
